Official message from Tziona in regards to the Bagrut exams:
Greetings,After hearing from the teachers about the gaps in the grades of the
Bagrut exams of Module E and G; in cooperation with the Marvad, Machon Szold
and the Testing Department, I decided to evaluate the results in detail. The
conclusions are as follows:A comparison was made between Summer Moed Aleph
exams of 2017 to the yearly average of the Summer exams from 2009-2015.The data
shows that for the 16481 (Module G) exam, the average was 68 and the yearly
average of the 16106 exam (the parallel exam) was 72. A gap of 4 points does
not justify applying a factor. Moreover, 66,777 students answered the 16481 exam
compared with the record number of 55,900 students, who answered the 16106 exam
in the year 2014 ( module E before the reform). For the last two years an
additional 10,000 students are doing this exam. These students, on the level of
4 points, were prevented by the ministry according to the reform from taking
this exam last year and so are taking it this year, or they completed 3 points
and then moved to 4 points, in fact there is a decrease of approximately 4000
students doing the 16104 (Module C) in comparison to the record in 2014.That is
to say, if we don't just want students to advance to a higher level, but also
achieve a more successful and qualitative result, then we need to give them
more teaching hours and content support, like in the Ladders Program. It seems
that the Ministry of Educations' policy to advance students to the higher
levels is successful and therefore there is a need to promote this
trend.Furthermore, answers which appear immediately on the internet after the
exam, do not consider all of the factors that are looked at by the markers in
the Marvad.Additionally, I examined the specific notebooks of students who
complained that their grades for the exam were much lower than their yearly
grades, and no discrepancy was found.Yet all students who want to improve their
grade should take Moed Bet next week.If there is a need for further
explanations, I am happy to help.
