well, perfect pitch is unfortunately something you're born with, but you can develop very very good relative pitch! That is just as useful. My advice would be to get a copy of the CD course called Golden Ears, produced by Dave Moulton of Moulton Labs. It starts off teaching you to identify wide band boosts or cuts, then gradually getting more specific, until you are able to identify 1/3 octave boosts or cuts. You'll also want to learn how to tell a compressor is starting to act on the material by ear, rather than looking for that bouncing meter. Honestly, it seems really weird suggesting that an audio engineer rely on his ears more. *grin* Chris -------------------------------------------------- CTS MASTERING: PROFESSIONAL MIXING AND MASTERING! http://www.ctsmastering.com Dropbox: Have your stuff when you need it. 2GB is free http://db.tt/bQ2GuIt __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts
