Don. I'm definitely going to follow up on your suggestion, but can you
confirm whether or not this utility will raise the jaws volume independent
of the master windows 7 audio?

They are not assigned because they do not work well. Look at NirCMd.exe, it
has many useful functions. The link for his small 38 kB utility is provided
below. It can be placed in the user's JAWS Settings directory with your
scripts and called from the scripts. I quickly looked for my backups of
attempts to raise and lower the volume level of the active application. As
I said before, the difficulty I ran into was the string to identify the
application, which needed to match the label in the volume mixer. I do have
examples I started to use in an Screen Capture / OCR JAWS Script I wrote,
mostly for use with VMware, that called nircmd to save an image of the
active window to a file. It then used a Microsoft Office COM object to
perform the OCR. Others said it worked, but was clumsy. The COM object
never worked reliably on my computer. The nircmd utility worked flawlessly.

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real
substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working
on things that matter.
