You may try EdSharp, and if you don't like it, you can try Jart. Ed Sharp
is a more powerful version of Notepad, and Jart is Word Pad on steroids.

Subject: [jawsscripts] JAWS script for Notepad2

Hello All,

I was searching for ages for the perfect little text editor. And I
thought I'd found it in Florian Balmer's excellent (and freeware!)
Notepad2:

Just one slight problem... I can't get JAWS to read out selected text.
Apparently, the culprit is Scintilla: a source code editing
component.

Rumour has it that there's a way round this restriction by way of a
JAWS script. Problem is, I know nothing of JAWS
scripting. Which brings me here...

Can anyone on this forum help me out? Any help or useful
suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

thanks in advance,
John O'Regan.
