Peter once after mylaptop was cleaned off I was in the position of not having Jaws on it or any assistive Tech,so a friend phoned from some long distance and we had to try to download Jaws, using onlynarator, I have XP Home, the line was bad also storms heavy rain, narator was slow and useless, the friend in a second or 2 found an alternative voice that was stronger and more powerful to try and tide us over, we managed in the end with nothing in the end due to foul weather and I just followed instructions to the letter, I have just downloaded this suggestion of yours it took 3 downloads and on laptop a long time, however I cannot find it, where do you think it would go? I had by the way many warnings from Microsoft,, that it couldnot verify the download. WinPatrol did not bark however, but is there a simple voice better than narator to keep on computer for an emergency? By the way I see Leonie's Post has the same ecartis Issue I have, the extraeneous matter trailing
after her Post. I am not alone it seems regards Dorothy----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Hallam" <peter.hallam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Steve, Yes, while you are working in the maintenance area the run time version is in operation so you will be told when the an installation has finished. Could I suggest that you download one of the free screen readers as a backup, I know you have MS Narrator but it's not very good, NVDA is more versatile and is easy to install, you can download it from http://www.nvda-project.org Hope this helps, Pete H.----- Original Message ----- From: "steve pallett" <steve.p@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, May 02, 2009 5:50 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] uninstalling jawshi. i want to uninstall jaws 9 before re-installing it again as i think something odd happened when installing on a new hard drive. if i use the jaws cd to uninstall, how do i know when the job has been done, do i get any sounds or spoken info that jaws has been successfully uninstalled? never done this before and don't want to be in a mess smile. thanks for any advice. steve. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4049 (20090501) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
