Hi Johny, as all these things are in the system tray they will be running at
start up. There are very few things you need to run at start up. The more you
burden your system at start up with unnecessary programs the higher the demand
on it and that will affect your system performance.
Obviously you'd leave anti virus on the start list, but other than for that
you can load programs when you need them.
Programs invariably by default set themselves to start with windows. If you
don't keep a check on it and remove things your system will suffer. Try running
msconfig. Go to the start up page and uncheck all but essential items.
                       John.

    Hi Robin

There's all sorts of things in there. I've got BT Broadband help, some
music stuff, wireless connection, volume controls, windows security , quick set
- whatever that is, and some other things I don't think I need in there. Would
these effect the way the computer is running? How can I remove them from the
system tray then?

      Hi,

Firstly, thanks to Tris for that programme, I installed it last night and
it looks pretty user friendly once you see how it works.

Johnny, tell us what is listed in your sys tray, then some folks on here
might advise. Basically all you really need is your anti virus, your internet
or network connection and maybe jfw if you run it from there rather than the
task bar.

      hth, Robin
