Dear Jamie,
Yes, I've got it! Managed to save it as text. So now Ihave the Labour
and the Liblab manifestoes, and I will now have a look at the
Conservative one.
Cheers

John

John,

You could try the 2 following ideas but they may not work depending on
the
security that has been set on the PDF document:

1. Open a blank Word document.
2. Open the PDF document as normal and wait for it to sort itself out.
3. Press Control+A to select the entire document.
4. Press Alt_+Tab to switch back to your Word document and try pasting
the
text into it.

My guess is that this probably won't work if you can't use the "Save as
text" option but it's worth a try.

If you have Kurzweil 1000, you can try using the virtual printer option.
To
do this do the following:

1. Open the PDF as normal.
2. Open the print dialogue box with Control+P
3. From the list of available printers, select the one called something
like "KC Virtual Printer" and start it printing as normal. This will
send
the PDF to Kurzweil 1000 and launch Kurzweil automatically. If it is
going
to work, Kurzweil will then take a while to scan and recognise the text
from
the PDF file but it is much quicker than printing it and then scanning
it in
manually.

Regards,

Jamie

DearGraham,
Yes, thankyou. I am now able to read the pdf version. However, it takes
a long time to convert and can only be saved as an adobe/pdf document
and not in a text format, which means that every time I want to look at
it, I have to convert it again. Can I avoid this?
I tried Kevin's suggestion about an audio version, and this works fine,
but of course a text version is better, because you can vary the speed
of reading, and you can search the document.

Hi Amie and John.

I have looked at the site and the option to view on line brings up a
flash
video which seems to be totally inaccessible.

The downloaded PdF seems readable enough however. are you unable to
access
the content at all?

I tried to read it ages ago; like a couple of years. Found the same
issue;
Emailed them; got no response at all ever.

Hullo folks!

I thought that in view of the rise of Nick Clegg, I should read the
Manifesto of the Liberal Democratic Party. On the official web site of
the
party, there are lings to enable one to read the full text. One of these
takes you to a flash movie and the other is a PDF but no digitised text.

Has someone got a minute please to have a look and tell me what I should
do?
