Darren, no help I know but I also had this problem with JAWS 8 after installing
a few programs such as Kurzweil 1000 and some games using sapi voices. I never
did solve the problem. To be honest I don't use the real speak voices with
JAWS so it has not been that much of a priority for me.

This isn't strictly speeking a jaws problem, but it obviously affects the way
my jaws 8 and Say all is working.
I've recently downloaded and been playing AudioQuake, which uses the Sapi
voices, either the sam variety o the realspeek voices.
All was going fine until today.
I have no idea what's hapened, but the realspeek voices don't work, even when
using jaws 8.
All devices are working correctly, I can play music, jaws operates fine but
the realspeek and sapi voices are just totally dead.
I've reinstalled them from the realspeek disc but with no changes.
Any ideas?
