Hi Joan and all, For about £150 you can buy a digibox and digi-recorder combined. This works just like the hard disk on your PC and you can perform all the routine word processing and file management operations with what you have recorded. I don't know, however, whether anyone has tried hooking this system up to a speech synthesiser. If you are willing to spend an extra £200, you can also add a DVD player and burner to the system. Digital TV Joan, I'm by no means an expert on this stuff, but I believe that you shouldn't have to change your television in order to get digital television pictures, assuming that your existing telly is relatively modern. What this should mean is that you can keep your existing telly, purchase the appropriate method of receiving a digital picture and also hang on to your I-Player to use as you are at present. In essence tellies that are being sold as digital tellies are normal tellies with the didgi box built in. You can achieve the exact same result by getting an external didgi box such as a Free View box and aerial, cable television or satellite telly. For example, if you are in an NTL cable area, you could subscribe to it and just use your own existing telly. If you are not in a cable area, you would need to get a satellite receiver or Free View and aerial. Hope this helps (and I hope I'm correct too!!). If I'm wrong, I'm sure that someone out there will let me know soon enough!
