[jaws-uk] not reading checkboxes on the web

Hi,
I'm finding that when I use the googlemail basic html site and move
across the columns of the table by pressing alt control left/right,
JAWS says "blank" for a cell in which there is actually a checkbox.
If I read just using cursor up/down JAWS announces the checkbox.
Anyone else found this with checkboxes in forms or in general? I'm
using 9.0.552.
