That sounds good, I found the Western Digital quieter, I lost all my data it was a hard lesson to learn re Seagate I now recall a 1 man business in Tonbridge said it was once called "stickygate, but as Watergate was a long time ago it will have worked hard to rid its product of that tag, I have bought a Western Digital external Hd from Argos, it is self powered and has rather a short lead, I have not used it yet as I am not sure how. I can plug in the front of the computer or if a longer lead the back, it is an ideal length for a laptop it is 2 times 90 Gb, as I changed the first one to have a better size. I note many people never ask, my Viglen genie which Hardrive failed after 20 months had aWestern Digital, Engineer replaced with a IBM Hitachi the later is noisierthan the Western D, but the firm Viglen said price fluctuation caused themto switch supplier, I don't know what caused the failure of the W.D, Andrewon this list thought my doing a Defrag not too long before was a possible reason, if a Corrupted -that word again! existed or the procedure Defrag stopped to soon, that could be the cause. Ever since I have been very nervous doing a Defrag----- Original Message ----- From: "Hugh Megarry" <hugh.megarry@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2008 8:51 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: new computerQuad core is the type of processor there are single core duel core and nowquad core it means there are four cores in a quad core and two in a duelcore the 1600 fsb is front side buss speed the computer I am using now hasa front side buss speed of 1333 I think and I will have a graphics card as well it has one gig of its own Corrupted means something is wrong with the programme maybe a file or something is missing or something has damaged it somehow and it needs to be fixed sorry that is all I know and its not much lol -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dorothy Ingram-Gorban Sent: 24 May 2008 20:11 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: new computer Hi I wish I could answer you, but am curious what is Quad Core please?the 1600 of something mean? Also if you are putting in a Motherboard, willthe Memory be independant of the Motherboard, in other words, will you have independant Video card please?and what isNod 32 like please is it good with Jaws, I hear it used with Eyes. if you have 4 of Ram, that is a lot but ifyou have independant Graphics that will release more memory wont it? I amso sorry to bombard you with questions I am technically ignorant and noone would even explain on this list what Corrupted means. One thing I had problems with due to independant Graphics/video card was between Lunar andJaws and that turned outto be an interceptor problem it took a year to get a fix.----- Original Message ----- From: "Hugh Megarry" <hugh.megarry@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2008 7:08 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] new computerI am about to put together a new computer and I would like to use a mother board that runs 1600 fsb and use a quad core and also use ddr three ram with X P pro would anyone know if there is any problem with running such a computer with jaws and also would it be ok to put four gig of ram in it Idon't know which mother board I will be putting in yet so if anyone knowsa good mother board that runs 1600 fsb and takes ddr three ram I would be grateful for any advice at all thanks** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 3128 (20080523) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 3128 (20080523) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 3128 (20080523) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signaturedatabase 3131 (20080526) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signaturedatabase 3131 (20080526) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signaturedatabase 3131 (20080526) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
