hi flor many thanks, seems to be working with the jaws find keys. but there is no link on that web site saying skip to link button. my friends that are working it ok said it must be just me, in saying that they are not using the jaws find. I have been on the freedom scientific web page looking at their navigation lessons, I have learnt allot from there. susan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Flor Lynch" <florlync@xxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, January 13, 2006 5:12 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: look at a web site Hi Susan, Happy new year to you: And yes, the weather is bad!! Now, your problem which isn't one. Have you ever used the JAWS Find Dialogue? When on the page, and you go to, say, the bravo link, having visited the BBC1 link, use insert-ctrl-f to open the JAWS Find Dialogue, and type in the word bravo, tab to ok and hit enter. You should next find the word Bravo highlighted; or, just arrow around up and down a few lines till you get it. There is another setting in the html options of the JAWS configuration manager that might help, or at least it's supposed to: "Skip past repeated links on new pages", and you would check that box. But try the JAWS Find thingy first. And the other people who've no troublke with the page: What have they been instructing you on its use? Another link you may want to be aware of is the "Jump to main content" link. Hit enter on that, and you should be taken straight to the text of the program, listing of the station link you're on. Also, be aware that, when you move from one link to another, you will eventually make it even if you do nothing, as JAWS just reads down the page slowly but surely. I tried this using JAWS4.51. (I uninstalled JAWS4.50, because it wouldn't allow me work with Microsoft Word!) JAWS4.51 is a patch to 4.50 - not an upgrade and not something you'd have to register - to download. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan" <susan.beggs@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 3:00 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] look at a web site Hi happy new year to you all. I am using windows 98 and jaws 4.5 I was wondering could some one with the same system as me look at this web site for me? I can get so far then I get no further. This is a web site for audio described programs and film TV listings on sky there is a link to click on called sky audio description schedule the problem is I can go in to one channel for instance bbc 1, but then if I want to go to another channel say for instance bravo, I am unable to go in to it, what happens is it just keeps going back to bbc 1. Three other friends living quite close to me have no problem with navigating the site, however they are using xp home, one is using jaws 5.0 and the other two are using windoweyes.
