I am a little late on this thread but the reason you cannot use a Macbook Air to run Windows in a VM is simply an issue of memory. When running a VM to run Windows and whatever inside it you need to dedicate some of the host system resources over to the operating system being hosted. On machines with 4GB this is usually not so much of a problem but the MacBook Air is really a very expensive companion to a conventional desktop or laptop PC. It isn’t really designed for people wanting to run VMs on it. The same considerations would apply on a regular Windows PC although unless you are a technical bent it is less likely you would be doing this. One way around this is to use Boot Camp instead where you then be able to dedicate full resources of the machine to the operating system rather than sharing them between two. I think for the visually impaired this is a more reliable option. Unless you are really committed to using the Apple OS a Mac of any kind is a really expensive way to run Windows/JAWS when you can get Netbook/PC machines that will do the job at a third of the price. If you want to use Voice Over and prepared to commit yourself to that climb then it makes more sense, but that is a subject for another list. Regards. He got it last year so it's not the newer Air that has come out recently. Yes, the Air is very elegant and really nice. Apple tech support are usually good but this time they got it completely wrong it seems. Unless the "next generation" Mac Book Air has changed that it can't take Windows, which I very much doubt, you shouldn't have a problem. Using an application called Mac Boot, you can install Windows on your Mac and at start up choose whether to boot in Windows or the Leopard. That is the method my brother is using and I believe there are other apps than Mac Boot out there to do a similar job. I can't remember the name of the app but there's one that lets you run Windows in a virtual environment from within Leopard itself. He's only been using Jaws on the Mac Air for a couple of weeks but running Windows 7 home pro and Jaws 12, he says the setup is working nicely and the system is fast and responsive. My brother has remapped the keyboard to account for the loss of some Windows keys on the Mac, but he says it is still fiddly to invoke some Jaws functions. That is the main criticism he has for now. There's another small issue with the soundcard drivers it looks as sometimes Jaws stutters a little when it start speaking. If you have just bought your Mini you'll be able to exchange it to a Mac Air easily from the Apple store. I recall one has seven days or it actually might have been fortnights as a cooling off period.
