Hi Andrew,
I have great sympathy with you, Yahoo's support is useless, and people
outside the USA seem to be completely ignored, so I took my groups away from
them and changed over to Google and haven't looked back.
If you really want to keep with Yahoo, you could try the WebVisum add-on
which works with the Firefox browser, it can usually decode such captcha
codes.
