Dr Solomons Anti-Virus Kit or something comes to my mind but nore sure
whether that was the first on the scene.

Back in my MS-DOS days, one of the first virus scanning and removal programs
that became popular was McAfee. It was good, detected almost every virus
known to humanity and was free for home use at the time.
