amie, the point is why do you need facebook?
Saying that the concept of facebook is philosophically a waste of time is
quite different to saying you can't navigate it easily.
I do think that much of facebook is a waste of time for me, partly because
the applications and stuff that you can use are often quite inaccessible and
also because I see no point in making friends on facebook just for the sake
of it like a lot of people do.
Facebook or twitter for that matter will however let you get a lot of
information out to people who follow you on those networks. The same thing
can be done with emails of course. Facebook can also be good for catching
up with old friends or people you have lost touch with.
It is a while since I signed up to facebook but at the sign in screen you
get one of those Capcha boxes where you have to enter the text in the
graphic. Either get your husban to do it or take advantage of the link that
lets you email support if you are having problems creating your account.
when I signed up I got a response to this with a password I could use to log
in then change as required.

I know, Johny; I wish you wouldn't. You're reminding me that Facebook is
yet another techie piece of time-wasting I'll have to make time for, one of
these days. I keep getting my husband to circulate news for me, on
Facebook, because I can't face the rigmarole of signing up and doing it
myself.

I really do think it's a case of getting to know the site to navigate round
quickly. There's wee bits and bobs that I don't know what the links will
