Thanks for that but having pressed insert 6, I can't find global adjustment so could you please tell me how I get to this. Thanks Paul. ----- Original Message ----- From: Amro Bilal To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, January 03, 2011 12:05 AM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: chaing jAWS to speak words rather than Characters A quick way to change it is with insert 2. Otherwise, open the Jaws settings centre (insert 6), choose whether to make the change globally (default) or choose the application you want the change to affect, Tab to User, expand it and make your selection from there. I am for some reason having trouble getting JAWS to make this change permenant and wonder if anyone can tell me how to do this correctly as the repeading of characters is driving me mad. In JAWS, I selected voices and then the voice I wanted to change and then went down the list of optoins available to me. When I arrived at the speaking Characters, I pressed the spacebar which toggled me through just words and words and characters. I can change it but if I should go out of Outlook and then return and type another Email, JAWS is once again speaking characters. Any help would be most welcome.
