I do hope that not everyone takes you at your word in this message.
I have been using the Seeing AI app for some weeks and it has changed
the way I do many things, it's definitely not rubbish, I can read what's
in a tin or packet using the short text part of the app, I can read
these things even if the text is upside down, as to the faces and scene
part of the app, these are still in development. seeing what bank note
you are holding works fine.
There will always be a learning curve for new items, and especially
for us blind people, it seems you have just had a little play with it
and dismissed it as rubbish, as for sighted people being involved, there
is at least one visually impaired person involved in the development.
The app is still undergoing improvement and Microsoft are asking for
feedback, instead of this negative attitude, why not do just that and
see if you can suggest where improvements can be made? I have Omnipage
and it too has problems with some text and that's been in development
for years, so why not send a copy of the document you are having trouble
with to Microsovt and see if they can improve the app.
I had to learn how to use the I phone, never having had any sort of
mobile phone before, it took some time to come to terms with the touch
screen, but it's quite logical and I use the voice over to hear what is
happening, I presume you didn't have that turned on in your trial? but
you have to learn, isn't that so with anything we do in life?

really is better than anything that has gone before, and it's free, try
for yourself and judtge for yourself. Please contact me off list if you
want any more information.

Hah my daughter downloaded the software onto her phone yesterday and it
caused much fun in our house. As usual the ocr is pretty useless i.e. if
the font it reads changes colour or has a gray paragraph, it misses it
out. As for the facial bit, well I have shoulder length dark hair with
an enourmous parting i.e. bald on top, have a grey beardand moustache
and am 70. It described me as a man with a moustachewearing dark glasses
and a hat and I am 80 years old.I presume the bald patch is what it
thought was a hat. Pah.
Generally everybody had a funny description and as for using the
software, if you are totally blind like I am then I don't know how you
are supposed to find the right buttons on a screen display to use it.
Typical rubbish written by sighted people trying to be clever and
missing the real things that blind people need like ocr that can read
changes of colour, hue or typeface all in one document and not the age
or sex of the person sitting opposite you.

FS canera does all it should, and it’s personal choice of course,
but try
the free app first is my advice.
