Hah my daughter downloaded the software onto her phone yesterday and it
caused much fun in our house. As usual the ocr is pretty useless i.e. if
the font it reads changes colour or has a gray paragraph, it misses it
out. As for the facial bit, well I have shoulder length dark hair with
an enourmous parting i.e. bald on top, have a grey beardand moustache
and am 70. It described me as a man with a moustachewearing dark glasses
and a hat and I am 80 years old.I presume the bald patch is what it
thought was a hat. Pah.
Generally everybody had a funny description and as for using the
software, if you are totally blind like I am then I don't know how you
are supposed to find the right buttons on a screen display to use it.
Typical rubbish written by sighted people trying to be clever and
missing the real things that blind people need like ocr that can read
changes of colour, hue or typeface all in one document and not the age
or sex of the person sitting opposite you.

Hello,
Having listened to Jonathon Mosen’s podcast and his description of the
canera for reading documents, I would strongly advise anyone with an I phone
or I pad to download the free Seeing AI app from the Apple app store, it
will read documents, short text, bar codes, announce what bank note it is
looking at, describe faces, colours, give an indication of light intensity
etc,and believe it or not, read handwriting, yes it’s true. and all without
having to use a frame to hold the canera in the correct position. You just
point the phone or I pad at a document for instance and it says things like
“right edge not visible and you move the phone or I pad slightly, it then
says, “hold steady and takes a photo automatically. It reads out the text
and it can be sent to your computer etc, much too much to include in this
message, but this app is the most blind friendly I have seen yet, and it’s
free.
I am so impressed with this app that I actually purchased an I phone S E,it
cane with the latest operating system[IOS11, which is required to use the
app, the phone cost me £299, the same price as the FS canera, I’m sure the
FS canera does all it should, and it’s personal choice of course, but try
the free app first is my advice.
Best Regards, Jim.
