Hi Tristram

Thanks thanks for your response

Luckily Graham Page is coming down this weekend so I will set him the task
of finding out.

Thanks again

Debbie

If your PC pops up messages when you try to shut down then this is not
normal, but an indication that Windows is having a problem trying to shut
down applications. This trouble often accompanies an application that is
not actually performing correctly perhaps because part of it has crashed but
still resident in memory. The trick is to find out what that application is
and then try disablin/removing it to see if the problem goes away.

Hi Debbie,
I've always had to go through this ritual since moving to XP. I'd always
assumed that it was part of it. The game gets even more involved if you
have multiple users. If my assessment is wrong, I'd be delighted to know
the answer.

Cheers

Colin

Hi robin thanks for responding.
I have run spybot and ad-aware as I run both of these on the PC and they
haven't come up with anything.
So I am really stumped

Debbie,

Sounds like a bit of spyware has got into your pc. Try using jaws cursor
and finding out exactly what the file name or message is, then either
come back to this list, or type it into Google where it might throw out
an explanation.

Got Spybot or Ad-aware? Give it a run.

Hi listers

I wonder if there is anyone on this list who can shed a bit of light on
a
strange programme I have on my PC.
Everytime I go to shut down I get a message saying en programme-socket
notification sink and giving me the option to end the programme or
cancel. I am using JAWS 5.10 and windows XP home.

Any help with shedding some light on this would be appreciated.

Debbie
