Thanks George. Yes I thought this was what a style was, but it puzzled me that the attributes were the same on these two different styles.

Hi Catherine,

A Style in Word defines the visual appearance of the text to
which it is applied.

For Example the "Heading 1" is large and bold to make it
stand out, compared to "Normal" text which is as it's name
suggests, and more normal size.

I'm not sure why the two Styles you mention appear to be the
same unless someone has changed them. The "Normal (Web)"
Style is usually Times New Roman font, where the "HTML
(Typewriter)" is usually Courier.

George.

Hi,

What exactly does JAWS mean when it tells us that something
is such and such
a style in Word? I thought it would mean the font or
spacing was in a
particular way, but I'm finding that there doesn't seem to
be a difference
between two styles in terms of the font info.

e.g. in a Word document at one point JAWS is telling me
something is in
"normal web style"; a little below it says the style has
changed to "HTML
typewriter style". But if I press JAWS f it says exactly
the same info for
both places with the exception of the style - "12 point,
ariel, line spacing
single, paragraph formatting justified, outline level body
text".

So what does "style" mean?

Catherine
