You are correct Phil it was just like that, and I moved from one list to another. By the way on my laptop I did not set up the Specific folders but Kab did on the 1 visit per year, and although I had printed out the 3 page information sheet and it included a Screen shot, they just said they knew how to do it, result is that most come into my Inbox but at times those with Jaws and a bracket go into the Specific folder and only by checking my desktop can I be sure if indeed it is to me directly I have not explained that well, but Phil I wonder if you remember setting it all out beautifully once? Well George said it would not work and again it revolved around square or curly Brackets, but as you explained to George you were using it as an illustration. Somewhere Phil I have your original illustration, but unless I mastered the Advance search Option in OE ! I would miss it. Incidentally regarding Anti-virus and the DDA I will send an attachment later it is largish and from the NCC National Consumer Council, I did send it to George but it would be too big for the list ,I did not hear back from him but I assume he got it Regards Dorothy ----- Original Message ----- From: "shirley clow" <shirley.clow@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello Phil,

You may remember I was trying to set up folders in Outlook express for such things as JAWS UK etc. The folders are set up successfully, but all E-mails are still going into the main In-box folder.

You said one can transfer e-mails manually, could you advise me how to do that.

Many thanks,

Shirley.

Hi Dorothy,

Orhan has probably sent the message to which you refer below, to more than
one mailing list, most likely with the jaws-uk address in the bcc field
which you won't be able to see.

I imagine that you have a rule set up in Outlook express to look for jaws-uk
in the sent to field of incoming messages and, when found, to move the
message to the jaws folder. In the case of this particular message, the
sent to field contained the name of a different mailing list therefore, the
criteria for invoking the action of your rule was not met.

If my supposition is correct, I would expect Orhan's message to appear in
the standard inbox folder.

You can, of course, move the message manually to the jaws folder.

has my Specific folder gone wrong?,there are times when Emails on my laptop go into the Jaws specific folder due to them having Jaws and a bracket, but
it has never happened before on my Desktop until today. However before I
fiddle with folders can you tell me will your message have gone into Jaws
users Inbox?

Thanks Dorothy

Evening folks,
Recently there have been some postings to various blind technology lists about the Misconceptions about Windows Live mail. From what I understand, Live mail will only effect those using hotmail. This is because, people on
Hotmail use the HTTP way of accessing E-mail. Microsoft, use a different
protocol for Hotmail users to access their e-mail. For this reason, they
have to switch to windows Live mail. Frankly, this was coming. New outlook
express users could not use hotmail anymore with out paying for it, and
Microsoft was slowly dropping the ball on outlook express. For those who
use
hotmail, you could use something that would use a pop3 or imap server.
This
includes but is not limited to, gmail and other free e-mail services.

Now, Let me try and clear out some misconceptions in the blindness
community.
Firstly, windows Live mail is navigable with jaws, and probably
window-eyes.
You can certainly use it, there some focus issues but apart from that, it
is
usable. Jaws9, does, indeed, have built-in scripts for WL mail. While not
perfect, they are functionable. a person can use most of the keystrokes
to
accomplish what they need to in WLM mail. Composition of messages is
pretty
straight forward, except for turning off the PC cursor.
oh, BTW, you don't have indication of weather a message is read or unread.

Now, my opinion.
Yes, windows Live mail is usable to a certain degree with jaws 9 and maybe other screen readers, but I don't think it is perfect as well. I think we should make the gradual move to it, and Notify screen reader vendors that
this will be a key program in the future. outlook express is not! and I
mean not!!! just gonna die now,and as you have seen, it only effects
hotmail users. Plus, there are alternatives, for those Hotmail users.
I would recommend that Hotmail users try out windows Live mail. Honestly,
it's not that bad. Now, if you don't have jaws9 or what ever, there is
alternative e-mail services, clients etc. Don't!, Don't,! be afraid
to
try out new things.
For those people like me who don't use hotmail, but another e-mail
service,
stick with outlook express, imho... because there are still bugs in
Windows
Live Mail.

Kindest regards,
orhan.
