Hi thanks but of all people I am very cautious, I do not buy on line and
the only unfamiliar Emails lately were from Kent County council Freedom of
information saying they will try to supply some information and another I am
not sure if it was an attachment it was a Clip that lead to the New York
times and contained News in Digital form mainly about Ray Kurzweil, and
Professor Ramah Shandon, must admit got carried away a bit with hearing
Hillary Clinton and interesting news however I forwarded it to friends,
yesterday when the computer man came Abdul, I was interested that in the
office of The Guru, that is the name of the little business, in the Office
Nazir Jamal uses AvVG Free, but Abdul uses at his own home Nod 32 which he
says is good, regarding the Word Kernel, once a few years ago when I was new
to this list a clever man called Flor who was both Vip and hearing impaired
said he had written to Eric Damery about a Kernel 32, so I assumed that was
a problem with Jaws. in that article sent by Tiddy Kernel was mentioned
Dorothy

"But your first line of defence is not to rely on any anti-virus program
but use caution yourself. Don't open any attachments in e-mails unless
you're sure what they are. "

This is very much what I would advocate, these days, one cannot afford
to risk compromising a system with a virus if it can be helped virus
cleanup is not a 100 percent guaruntee with any anti-virus.

Regards.

It's all in the Wiki Dorothy. Each of the terms you query will have a
link to them. The interesting thing in that article was the statement
about how easy they are to produce.

But your first line of defence is not to rely on any anti-virus program
but use caution yourself. Don't open any attachments in e-mails unless
you're sure what they are. Don't go poking around with programs you
don't know, (eg your queries about Silverlight - if it had been me, I'd
have automatically assumed that THAT was a virus.
Kasparsky, AVG or whatever can only stop known viruses, so they can
never be 100% safe.

By the way, my isp notifies me of any infected mail sent my way - yours
probably stops them too, but may not tell you - and I get several such
notifications a week.

Hi again Tiddy some of it I understood, but what is a Kernel? I have
heard
that word before in connection with Jaws, someone complained about a
kernel
32, also it mentions the Trojan gets your Ip number, I think Belark
advisor
gathers a lot of detail and the Ip number is one, not sure what it means
by
getting at back door, is it that all the time we are on line we are open
to
Infiltration? A lot of the abbreviations I do not understand, but some
fellow seems to identified it a long time ago. It can be a worm, one
engineer said not. I think I will read it again tomorrow, but it is a
kind
of Code, remember that Code writer? Dorothy

Hi list, I have spoken to several engineers today and opinions differ
about
the nature of a Trojan, can some of you say what you think a Trojan
really
is. I do understand about the theory and the Trojan horse stuff, but
did
you
know why the Trojan even after destroying it prevents you doing a
system
restore? On Saturday asking Gardner to help he killed of the Trojan
as I
explained it gave 2 awful screams, but it was impossible to do a
system
restore. The Desktop which lost Outlook Express and thousands of
emails
to
my horror! would not respond to system restore either but it had not
got
the Trojan as it happens, it did not return in Run and the pathway
for
the
executable, it had become uninstalled and needing finding under Ad and
remove and

All the
came back
Please then explain about the Trojan any opinion missing emails then
