Hi, I would say that even expecting them to test a website with more than one screen reader is going too far. What they should do is conform to access guidelines and make sure any fancy controls etc are accessible. Screen reader developers, especially ones who charge, should ensure they make a program that works. It is slightly different for open source programs obviously but I'm sure they will get there. Satogo is the best on the internet in one or two ways anyway, I think the others could learn a thing or two from the concepts.

Hi Wendy. Actually, while in an ideal world, programs should be accessible with all screenreaders, do keep in mind that NVD is only in release build 0.5 so,while open source programs are always in development, this release should beseen more as an important development version along the way to being first major release version 1.0. if you want to try a more well developed screenreader, try System Access to go at www.satogo.com which, while not arguing to be a full screenreader, does offer oficial support for InternetExplorer. This is a beta version but it is the mechanism of delivering thescreenreader over the web rather than the program itself that is in beta here. the program system access already exists.Secondly, why does Wiltshire foods not work? it could well be NVDA's fault as JAWS and Window-eyes users seem not to have had significant problems. Iwould say that in general, it is reasonable to expect site developers totest their screenreaders with the most popular screenreaders, JAWS, Hal andWindow-eyes are the 3 most used in the UK, but it would take a lot of resource to test with all screenreaders available. regards Graham Graham Page Home Phone: 0207 265 9493 Mobile: 07753 607980 Fax: 0870 706 2773 Email: gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: gabriel_mcbird@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: gabriel_mcbird----- Original Message ----- From: "Wendy Sharpe" <w.sharpe@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: "Jaws" <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2007 11:57 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] WILTSHIRE FARM WEBSITE FriendsI am trying out NVDA, which is quite good, although I don't much go for thevoices. I went to the Wiltshire site, but when I tried several times toenter on the sign in link, the page refused to load and speech stopped for aconsiderable time.I think it is important for the site developers to make Wiltshire accessiblefor all screenreaders so that every blind computer user can use it. I have also tried the Amazon site, and that is fine. Loading new pages after a search works well, so if Amazon can do it, Wiltshire must be able to.
