It may well be worth having a fish around in the startup group or possibly is
MSConfig startup section and see if you can find a register or reminder program
that is running at startup. You could then disable.

Free AV consist of Microsoft Security Essentials and AVG whilst paid options go
for NOD32 or the Smart security product from the same developer.

Subject: [jaws-uk] Toshiba laptop query

Hi,

JFW11, Windows 7, 64 bit, Toshiba laptop, anyone bought one recently?

I keep getting the reminder by Toshiba Warranty to register my product,
stil got a couple of weeks to go. After I open the window, I get the UAC
screen to allow changes, but after clicking the yes button , nothing, is
this one of those splash screens where I need sighted help?

Also, the UAC pops up every time I make some kind of change or install
new programmes etc yet I have it set to 33%. I thought this meant the
pop up didn't come up every time and the screen wouldn't get dimmed?

Finally, I'm off to look around for anti virus as I don't really like
the McAffee that's on trial, it just doesn't let me register even
although I have completed the wizard correctly, I keep getting the
message that the server has a problem, please try later. Does good old
AVG Free version 8 support 64 bit Win 7 I wonder?

Any help on the above much appreciated.

Kind regards,
