Ottawa Canada Dear Amie et al: As the present topic of discussion pertains to Sonar and other audio production tools, may I respectfully request that each contributor to this thread take a moment while composing their reply to amend the subject field to a more highly descriptive one of their message body. Also, summarizing the previous messages in the thread instead of quoting them verbatim back to the year DOT would be nice and I believe is a rule of this list. Finally, as this is the JAWS-UK list, with a stated topic of the use of JAWS, unless your discussion of audio production software relates to how it is used with JAWS, then alas your thread is off-topic here and is better discussed elsewhere, such as the BCAB list. I have retained the message I am replying to, and deleted the 17 messages preceding it. Oh, discussions of the staffing level at the UK distributor of JAWS and other Freedom Scientific products is also off-topic for this list. In answer to Marvin Hunkin's original query about the need for and cost of JAWS Professional, you require JAWS Professional if you are running a version of Windows on your PC that doesn't have the word "Home" in its name. Application software should not require a Professional version of JAWS. Regarding the upgrade price, it costs what it costs in Australia and if you don't like it, you can get an American friend to order the upgrade for you then mail it to you. But if you do this, don't ask the distributor in Australia for any tech support as they won't get a red cent from your purchase. This is known as Grey Marketing. As to whether you must buy an SMA at the time of upgrade, no you don't, but you do need to pay the price to upgrade any unused SMA from Standard to Professional if you upgrade your JAWS. The question as to whether all Access Tech for the Blind is a rip-off is beyond the scope of this list and also off-topic as is the comparison of the Apple MAC VS. the PC. And for Heaven's sake, please spell-check, proofread and correct your off-topic posts as well as your on-topic posts! Brian Brian K. My trouble is need to work closely with mainstreamers who don't use Sonar at all. Haven't heard of any serious users doing well with ProTools, but this thread might yet yield some... I'm certainly not dissing Sonar, in case anyone thought I was. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
