Do you know if your friend has tried Firefox, it seems much more stable than
Internet Explorer.
I can't remember if I have mentioned this before, but if your friend has
installed Skype on his new computer it has an add-on called Skype Mastermind,
it puts itself into Explorer's addon list and can cause some disruption to
certain websites, if he has it he should disable it.

My friend has tried all the suggestions made on here to get into Tesco.com,
but it is still telling him invalid Email address or password. Other people can
sign into his account from their computer. He used his computer to sign into
Tesco a couple of weeks ago and has made no changes since. His wife has just
given birth to two baby boys, so he really needs to do some shopping online! Is
there anyone can help?
