Hi again Dorothy,If you are the one being helped there will be no charge for the connection. This does not, of course, mean that the helper won't wish to levy a charge for their services.
Eric Damery does mention in the netcasts, that they are considering making a certain amount of time free for occasional use by friends to use the service even when the charging comes in to effect but he didn't expand on this.
For the moment it is important to know that the helper needs to have an authorised copy of Jaws 10 and the helped, at least a demo copy of Jaws 10.
You can find information about how Tandem is used in the Tandem sub-menu in the Jaws window which you can reach by pressing JawsKey+j.
By-the-way, Voice over is a synthetic speech system built in to the Macintosh computers which use a completely different operating system fromn the Windows based machines which will run Jaws.

Phil thank you I see what you write is what the person I spoke to this morning had heard, that in March the Tandem feature will no longer be free, if so I guess may as well enjoy it free whilst you can, mind you they may change their mind and be generous, could be a good selling factor in these difficult times. Thanks Dorothy.----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Medway" <philmedway@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, November 28, 2008 5:17 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: Tandem feature The controller, usually the person providing the assistance, needs to have an authorised copy of Jaws 10. This cannot be a dongle version. The client machine, usually the recipient of the assistance, must have atleast a demo copy of Jaws 10 installed. If the client's copy of Jaws 10 isa demo, it will only run for 40 minutes after which the machine must be rebooted before another 40 minutes of Jaws use. I have found that conducting a Tandem session is much more productive whencombined with a Skype session which allows me to explain to the client whatI am doing. I have recently received the following information from Sight and sound: The Freedom Scientific Tandem server is to remain free to use until March 9th after which it is thought that an annual charge of from £100 to £120 will be payable by regular controllers of Tandem sessions. I don't think fs have determined the fees for this. There was mention though that casual users would be able to use this service for free, I assume that there will be a monthly time limit to how much one would be able to use it. It is also worth remembering that only the person who wants to take control of someone else's computer will need to pay, but the person who is receiving help will not need to pay anything.
