Joan, I think this may be a Windows setting that's getting in the way of JAWS. Try opening the Start menu and going into Settings submenu and choosing TaskBar and Start menu. This will open a dialogue; Tab to the "Notification area Hide inactive icons" checkbox and make sure it's not checked. If it is already not checked, then apologies for the wrong steer! The thinking behind this possibility is that while the checkbox is checked, not all the system tray icons are on screen and I think that can prevent JAWS detecting them when you press insert + F11. When you use the Tab method of getting to the system tray, the hidden icons reappear when focus arrives on it, so JAWS can read them without any problem. I've recently found that when I use insert F11 not all of the items in the system tray are shown. If I tab round to it from the desktop the items appear. Should I amend a Jaws setting somewhere? Thank you. Best wishes, Joan. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq -- DISCLAIMER: NOTICE: The information contained in this email and any attachments is confidential and may be privileged.
