Hi Scott
I've just had a try with my copy of Jaws (5.0) and, no, it doesn't read out
attribute info in "say all". (Wouldn't this drive you mad anyway?)
But I've just discovered something: when you're in the "Classic" mode (ie no
attributes being read out) if you press Alt + Insert + Down arrow it reads out
the text with attributes. This might help Joan with her query too, if she just
wants the attributes read out now and then.

Also, there's an option in the Speech & sounds manager which will read out the
different styles in different voices. These are the "proofreading" options, at
the bottom of the list.
I hope that helps.
Belinda

  Hi

I need to know attribute changes also and the speech and sounds manager does
it OK. The only thing is that it doesn't seem to read out attribute changes
when I do a "say all", only when I arrow through the text.

Does anyone know if this is normal or whether I need to change some setting
somewhere for it to work in say all mode.

  Respectfully ... Scott

    Hi Tony
I don't know why this didn''t work for you, when you have another look at
it see if it saved the change you made to it last Thurs. If it didn't keep the
changes perhaps that's the problem, you must save the seeings when exiting the
Configuration Manager.

      Hi Belinda,
I tried all your suggestions on the college system last Thursday, but to
no avail!
I will try again from a fresh reboot this Thursday and let you know if I
have any success.

        Tony
No I dont think you have to 'save current scheme' unless you've edited
the current scheme. But you will have to save the Configuration settings. You
should be prompted to save these when you exit the Configuration Manager. I
hope that works.

          Hi Belinda,
Thanks for your help. I have tried this a couple of weeks ago, on the
set up at college but JAWS Vn5.0(which is running through the local network)
does not seem to have saved the revised settings. At work and at home I have
had no problem with attributes being spoken. I will try again on Thursday
afternoon and let you know if I have any success. presumably when I Have
selected the scheme I want, I need to press the 'save current scheme button'?

          Thanks again,

             Tony

I think I might have found the answer to this, but it may depend on
what version of Jaws you've got. I've got Jaws 5.0 and I've found an option in
the settings area as follows:
            Jaws/Utilities/Configuration manager/Set options/Speech & Sounds
manager/then change Scheme from Classic to
Classic (Attributes and font Info). Save those settings and this
should then read what you want.
Let us know if it works,
            Belinda

              Dear Joan,
Going back to your original message, how did you manage to turn
off JAWS saying all the attributes at the start of a line. I am having this
problem using Word on a system at college and have not found a way of
silencing this!

                Hi, Michael,

Thanks very much for your help.

As usual, I haven't explained very well. What I want is for
Jaws to tell me when in Say All Mode, when text is bold, underlined or normal,
that kind of thing.

                Thank you again.

                Best wishes,

                Joan.

                  Hi Joan,

I'm not sure whether what I am about to say is the attributes
you refer to in Word, but if it is what I think it is, do the following.

To find out the "attributes" of a line of text in Word, press
the keystroke insert+f on the keyboard and will say something like; Type Roman,
size 12 point, alligned left, single line spacing, etc.

If you want to know what colour the text is and what colour
background press the keystroke insert+5 on the numbers row, and it will say for
example, "black on white".

                  Hope this helps,

                  Michael Brown.

                    Hi, Folks,

A basic point I know but I can't for the life of me
remember how to get Jaws to say attributes in Word.

At one time it was overdoing it by telling you them in each
line so I turned the option off.

Now I find that there is so much blurb within the managers
that I feel I'm almost wading through treacle!

Any help would keep me sane and be gratefully received.

                    Best wishes,

                    Joan.
