Ian
Thank you.  I wonder, with apologies for my cluelessness, would it be
possible for you to post us a link to that good version of Firefox, please?
I went onto Firefox the other day to see if I could help matters by changing
version, but I got all confused by the Firefox download options and
eventually scuttled away in alarm.
Thanks again for your help; and thanks also to you, Veronica: it's very
comforting to find I'm not the only one struggling with this.

Hi Veronica and Amie,

It is possible to stop Firefox prompting to save passwords, but exactly how
may vary slightly depending on which version you are running.

Because of the recent warnings about avoiding Firefox 57 I am using version
52 ESR.

To stop Firefox saving passwords, I would do the following.
1.  Go to the Tools menu and choose Options.
2.  Choose the Security settings.
3.  Uncheck Remember Log Ins For Sites.

Sorry I haven't given exact keystrokes, but as I say, the exact steps may
vary with the version of Firefox.

Regards.

Ian

Dear Amie, Ian and others,
Thank you very much for the two quick replies!
The situation that Amie describes is identical to the problem that I am
having. I am using Firefox and JAWS 16, too. This is a fairly recent problem
i.e. within the last couple of weeks. I don't think I have updated JAWS in
any way. The problem occurs when I try to sign into an account for example
Ebay or Amazon. I enter in my e-mail address or user name and then tab to
the password box, enter that and press OK. A dialogue box then appears
asking if I want to save my password for the website and it is at this point
that the whole thing crashes! With sighted assistance i.e. not using JAWS,
then there are no problems with the dialogue box appearing.
Thank you very much again and hopefully somebody will come up with an
answer!

Hi Ian, Veronica and list
I'm having a similar issue so am all agog to learn what might be done.
If it's the same issue then it's when the dialogue pops up to ask if
you want the website to remember your password.  Big freeze ensues;
really proper JAWS special crash; everything comes down and won't
recover for minutes on end.  Evil feature of our beloved software.  It
happens at other times too, but this does seem to be a particular one,
causing extreme sulking, recurrence and cross-infection of anything else
that's open at the time.
Then again maybe my experience isn't the same as Veronica's.  Will
wait with huge interest.
I'm using Firefox and JAWS 16 (I think).
Many thanks
Amie

Hi Veronica,

When is the password message being displayed?
Is it when you are on a web page?  If so, which browser are you using?

Regards.

Ian

Hi,
For the past couple of weeks I have been having problems with JAWS and
when the Save Password Dialogue Box appears i.e. the box that windows
presents to say do you want Windows to remember this password. When it
appears, the computer freezes and it doesn't do it when running NVDA
so it must be something to do with JAWS. Can anybody tell me how I can
disable the action so that it doesn't appear when one enters one's
password? Of what to do with JAWS to make it work?
Many thanks,
Veronica
