Hi Barry. In safe mode you do not get sound drivers so you would certainly not be able to use JAWS with a software speech synthesiser. I don't think it would work with a hardware synth either because of issues with the rather basic video settings used in safe mode. As far as I know, there is no way around this with jaws.
