Hi Barbara,

I haven't been following this thread so if I am repeating what has already
been said, please forgive the message.

Sometimes broadband sessions get left in a faulty state and the easiest way
to reset them is to do the following:

Turn off your computer and the power to your broadband modem and unplug the
lead from your modem out of the phone socket.

Leave everything for around fifteen minutes.

Now, plug everything back in again and after a short while, maybe a minute
or two, turn on your computer and see if things have returned to normal.

This sometimes does the trick and saves you a lot of anxiety on the phone.

HTH,

Hi Dorothy

I have asked BT to do a line check. They have and reported no faults. I
don't think it's the Belkin as several others in my area are having the same
problem, so I think it must be something to do with BT themselves. I've
tried speaking to Broadband help but as there call centre is in India and I
am in Northern Ireland, we had some difficulty understanding each other and
the man I spoke to the third time of ringing was starting to get a bit
shirty because I could not understand his rather broad Indian accent. I have
been with BT for a good few years now with no problems whatsoever and the
first time I do have problems, I find their support is lacking. I think I'll
just have to persever and hope it improves as I'm not wasting any more time
and money on the phone to India speaking to people I can't understand.

Thanks for asking and for all the advice given by list members.

 Dear Barbara,
We still do not know if you took the advice given on this list regarding
your problem Did you in fact complain to BT about your phone line as
George and others suggested? Did they run a check on your telephone line?
If so what did they say. Finally if your Belkins Router is at fault and you
have only had it 'a couple of months' if it is faulty, you are surely able
to exchange it , you will be covered by the Sale of Goods Act. First of
all you must diagnose you problem thoroughly. All the best Dorothy
