I understand what you are saying, but whilst I am not afraid of my OCR , it
was a very long time before it could be discovered why Jaws wouldn't work
you see, and I am using Lunar to solve that,as John chamberlain who said he
could make a switching box,was unable to do it. You will not and how could
you understand, but the week I spent at manor house I was ill and soon
after leaving hospital,in any case we didn't get as far as Emails,it was a
thousand pounds wasted, but I am still glad I went, they were so kind, so I am
learning as best as I can alone at home, however I do have a desktop and
laptop so I can try on one, that Trojan killed all the Emails on laptop, but
not desktop I am using outlook express v 6I cannot use a mouse,I do not use
the magnification but screen needs to be black once Jaws did do that but not now,----- Original Message ----- From: "alex thynne" <alex.thynne@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

I'm not really sure how far I can be of help here because I'm thinking
jaws
could be reading all sorts of things. If for example jaws is reading
grammar changes, you could try turning this off in the verbosity options
as
I've said and you can disable this feature in word itself. In the days
when
I used to work, I personally didn't like reading revisions, track changes
and so on. For some people who like this feature, fine, but I personally
didn't. You have to decide for yourself how you like jaws to react when
reading documents. For those who say jaws is really flexible in its
current
version when it comes to treating how documents are to be read, that's
fine.
However, the other side of the coin is to say well I really don't need all
this feature ritch usability of a screenreader if all I want is to open up
a
document and read it. Then again, it could be argued that all that
someone
may need is word viewer. I haven't tried this so I don't know whether or
not jaws will use the microsoft word feature ritch scripts when using this
particular program.

In my own opinion, there are things I like and things I don't, it depends.
However, for someone who maybe only wants to read a document without
knowing
how it has been revised, updated, call it anything you will, perhaps all
the
major screenreaders are, for some users, more complex than is necessary
for
their needs. However, you could try, as I said before, to see if
disabling
the check for spelling errors and gramatical errors in the verbosity
settings will help. Jaws 9 has changed this somewhat to appear like a
tree
structure, and you need to look for the edit options to see how jaws
currently treats these. If they are on, press space bar to turn them off.
However, if you are reading superscript characters, as Brian suggested,
than
that is another matter.

Finally, it doesn't do any harm to look at the jaws help topics for
particular applications to get a full list of the various jaws commands
and
options available to you. I'm actually preaching to myself about this
one,
because it does happen to me, that the last place I look at to try and
solve
the problem I may be having at the time is the help section of jaws.

Hi I experimented by printing the attachment off, then scanning it in
using my Ocr, removed all punctuation no luck moved from one Engine to
another but although the Recognitions do not read the Empty para and
other
unwanted material in a high pitched voice of course it reads it. I
didn't
bother to export it using Rich text Format or scan direct into Word
because it will not solve the problem, I suppose I can try what you
suggest
but I am not sure I can do it. My Ocr I used before I ever signed up to an
Isp and am more at home adjusting settings. However I wonder if the Sender
is at fault also, because the first claimed to have an attachment and did
not, just yards of disclaimers and their Website Dorothy

Dorothy you are not telling us what program you are using to read the
document. If it is word, then there are things you can do in the
verbosity
settings on a temporary basis to stop jaws from reading these, or
configuration manager. You can even tell Word, if it is word, to ignore
grammar changes but I would rather not tell you how to do this in the
event
that the version you are using is not mine. I'm using microsoft word in
Office 2000.

Hi It is odd at first they sent in what they said was an attachment but
I
ploughed through it all and it was pages of Legal stuff you know what I
mean, I replied where is the attachment and I also sent them a clip from
Outlaw, George picked it out the other day it is worth reading, because
the business of all this Legalstuff takes yards of reading and most
of
it is
meaningless. So they sent me the attachment and that is when I got all
this
"empty para and other comments Jaws seems to be commenting on the
layout
and treating it as a word document, but since it is one I have not
typed
myself, should Jaws be doing this? It started at the time Jaws began
saying
"superscript also in high pitch voice. e ----- Original Message -----

Dear Dorothy and list:

I don't know what program is grumbling about the grammatical
errors in your received e-mail, but it isn't JAWS that is
checking for grammatical errors, although it would be JAWS that
is speaking the results of some other program's grammar check.
