Dear Dorothy,

I've never tried on Outlook Express, the procedure for setting up the
rules is certainly different from Outlook (and probably simpler) and
might even work.

Best wishes

Robert

for
same year 2002? Thanks Dorothy

Dear Robin,

I assume you have not solved the puzzle about the message rules yet. For
what it is worth I have had similar problems in Outlook 2002. Following
what seems to be successful completion of the procedure (no mean feat in
itself) nothing seems to happen. The only thing that did occur to me
was that the problem might have something to do with security settings
or the like and that it might be necessary to enable the application of
the rules before they work. Needless to say I have no idea if this is
true and if it is, where such a feature can be found. I decided in the
end that the time wasted in setting up this feature far outweighed the
benefit from getting it to work.

If you do happen to find a solution I would be very interested to know
about it even so.

Best wishes

Robert

This function seems to vary across outlook express and MS outlook e mail
packages and is quite tricky to navigate and set with jfw because you
can't see underlined values and highlighted options so readily. Here's
what I've done with a named example and it isn't working, any guru that
can suss out the answer gets a tube of smarties.

XP pro, jfw 9 and Outlook 2002

Tools, message rules wizard...
Tab to New... Hit space bar and select option 2, start from a blank
messsage rule, space bar on the next button Arrow down the list to,
"Where specific words appear in the senders address" and hit space bar
to check it. Tab once, arrow down once and hit enter. In the edit field
you land in, I have done this 3 times, inserting the following
attempts...

"david.tregellis" "tregellis" and "on behalf of David" tab to Ok and
enter Tab to next and space bar Now space bar on "move it to the
specified folder" to check it,and tab once In the tree view presented, I
arrow to deleted items and space bar to check it. Bypass through the
next set of exceptions and tab to finish, tab to Ok making sure the rule
is activated with a tick in the checkbox, and end the process on the Ok
button.

My 3 rules are all listed, with a tick against them, set to deal with
messages once they arrive

Hmm, Davids messages still drop right into my inbox....
