There you are a family member uses it. I think if you run that one it will
tell you how to get the free one, I think it is made by Grisoft something
like that and the free option is the first mentioned, you do not need to buy
a version unless you are in business, although the computer Guru here in my
town is a business I note he uses free versions aVG just look it up I think even in
White stick, you know that well known Website Tom Lorimour will have a
selection for you as mentioned some use Avast also free, but in the Which
Survey I think AVG had a point more but not much, Oh hangon it was in my Zen
News letter my Isp sends me a monthly newsletter. Apple users are very lucky
arn't they mind you I think they would be wise to use anti-virus anyway

Hello Dorothy,

Thanks for your tips!...

Regarding Andy, he is a Mac man and Macs don't have Anti Virus programs.

Plus the fact he is still away!...

The Desktop Derek uses has the full blown version of AVG. When the 7.5 ran
out on that machine, no way could we down-load the Free 8, so in desperation
I bought the full one!...

I can't remember what settings we used, I have JAWS 5 on that machine and it
wouldn't read the AVG.

Regards,

Shirley.

What a blessing someone else come to your aid. you do not have to
advertise you are using a free version of Avg at all it all dependson how
you set it up. Half this list uses Avg , for a while they stopped due to
Issues with it and Jaws but avg solved those and it is now a more
sophisticated product. It used to be a problem that Avg would call some
emails attachments when they were not, a nuisance and you had to untick
that
tag. I have in a small subfolder the instructions of how to remove that
tag, but doubt it applies now but if you would like those instructions
anyway I can send them. If you read the help at top of the programme you
will get hangof it and also set up advanced settings. I am sure your
son who
has high qualifications in IT! and works in
technology
can put you right he most
likely uses it himself. Indeed your own husband must use an antivirus
himself even if not technical. Dorothy.

Hello Robert,

Now I come to think of it, you are right, it does add an attachment.

However, when using 7.5 the attachment always showed up at the bottom of
the
e-mail message.

Thanks for your help.

Shirley.

Shirley,

I'm no expert on AVG but it sounds to me as though you have it set up as
you
want at least for E-mails. Remember however that it doesn't add a
message
at the end of the E-mail it has scanned, it adds an attachment.

Indeed, I would prefer it to add text at the end of the message but I
don't
think it's possible - if anyone knows better I'd love to be told.

Best wishes

Robert

Oggetto: [jaws-uk] Help PLease AVG

Hello Again,

I have safely installed Free Avg 8.5.

I now want to make sure that my in coming e-mails are scanned etc.

I have got the screen where I have in-coming e-mails checked, and
out-going
e-mails not checked. Now I am confused, at the end of the list it says
cancel. That doesn't make sense.

How do I get these instructions running in the e-mails.

I should have text at the bottom of my in-coming e-mails saying this
in-coming e-mails has been scanned by AVG etc.

Any ideas!...

Thanks,

Shirley.
