Hi again Linda, It is worth checking your AVG settings to ensure that you have incoming and outgoing E-mails checked. With regard to receiving your own attachments, I think that the latest version of Outlook express has a setting to disallow attachments from being saved or opened which might be harmful to the system. This setting can be found in tools / options / security tab and is on by default. You confirmed what I dreaded. I do keep my AVG Professional 7.0 right up to date, but so far haven't installed any spyware because I'm not sure how to use it - or how it will blend with JAWS 3.5. However, I'll give the spyware a try because while the AVG full system check gives a clean bill of health I still can't get attachments to go through to my own address. (I figured that if they won't go through because some idiot has infected my system then there'd be no harm in sending myself an "infected" attachment...) So I'll give the spyware a try and see what happens. Thanks again. Some viruses have utilised these techniques and it is quite possible that you have such a virus which is attaching scripts to your benign attachments to infect the recipients of your E-mails. You should ensure that you have applied all of the updates for your operating system and Outlook express and that you have a good anti-virus and anti-spyware package with their latest updates. Having done all of this, run a full scan of the anti-virus and anti-spyware applications to satisfy yourself that you have no infection on your pc. If all of this returns a clean bill of health, I'll have to think again but I wouldn't send any more attachments until you are sure that all is well. I hope this doesn't worry you too much but we all have to be aware of devious people who wish to cause us trouble on the internet. In the past I've sent attachments without difficulty, but lately I've noticed that when I add file attachments to messages they have the letters SHS at the end of the title and before the 39KB - or whatever KB it might be. I don't know if the letters SHS have anything to do with the problem in not being able to send messages with attachments, but it seems strange they should appear at the same time as my problem has arisen. I have no idea what they mean, so if they are irrelevant, please excuse my ignorance. I hope one of you can tell me what is causing the problem, and suggest a way to correct it. I have already tried sending alternative files as attachments to my own address and again SHS appears and the same problem occurs. It is most frustrating. Thanks in advance.
