Hi Keith

Just because jaws announces the character of the third box even though
you are on the first, just ignore it. Just treat it as if it was the
first one, which it is. When you tab to the second one, it isn't going
to say anything, apart from combo box.

Hi again, Brian,

I've followed your steps, but I'm afraid I'm getting the same result.

Yes, I can read, and memorise, the three digits, but then, when I move
down to the combo box, and Jaws tells me "Combo box, 1 of 37", I then
press Enter, and Jaws, as before, actually speaks the character that is
to be inserted in box 3, although box 1 is highlighted.

I'm sure it's here that the problem lies.

I am wondering if this is a Jaws 11 focus problem. I experience a lot of
problems with Jaws losing focus.

If it is a focus problem, then I really don't know what to do.

Again, my wife was able to click on the required digits and gain instant
access.

If you have any further suggestions, I would be really appreciative.

Thank you.

With best wishes,

Keith

Hi Keith

What I do is the following:
1. Above the combo boxes, there is text which identifies which letters
or figures from your sequence is required. For example, it will say, 1,
3 and 5. Take a mental note of these. 2. I arrow down to the first
combo, hit enter on it, and just arrow down until the first item is
selected. Don't press alt down arrow. 3. Tab to the next one and repeat
the procedure. 4.
Tab to the third one and repeat the procedure.

That's it.

security

Hello all,

Jaws 11, Windows XP Home.

I use Halifax on-line banking and, until today, I've had absolutely no
problem in gaining admittance to my on-line account.

However, as from today, I am on their new security system.

It's the second page of their security that is causing problems.

There are three combo boxes, and I am being asked to enter three
characters from a memorable word I have set up.

Jaws just isn't reading the combo boxes correctly.

For example, Jaws is asking me for the digit corresponding to Box 3, but
when I open the combo box, I am in box 1.

I thought I had then found a work-around, by simply cursoring down the
page until I could read the three asked for characters.

However, on pressing alt+Down Arrow to enter the first combo box, then
entering the correct digit, tabbing to the second combo box, and
repeating the step for this box, and then the final one, on pressing the
Continue button, I am each time thrown back to the first page of
security.

This is really maddening for me because, my wife, who uses a mouse on my
PC to enter in the various digits, gets in every time.

So, my question, please:

Do other Jaws users use the Halifax on-line banking facility?

If so, are you on this new security system?

And, if so, are you experiencing these problems?

I would welcome any feedback, please.

Best wishes,

Keith
