Hi Ron,

I no longer have Word XP. I suggest you do a search of the
help files for "reading layout" and see what it says there.

George.

George, I have the same problem. In tools, options and the
general tab. I don't have the option you mention. I am
using X P.

        Hi Tom,

        The most illogical place.

        Tools, Options, but NOT the View tab where you would
expect, but the General Tab.

        Note the check box labelled, "Allow starting in
reading layout" - uncheck it.

        George.

        Word keeps reverting to print view when I open a
document, even though I save that doc in normal view.

        So long since I doctored word, can't remember how to
stop this?

        Tom
