Hi James,

I believe I’ve figured out what to do with PowerPoint 2003,
but you’ll need to try it and experiment. (The following
was done WITHOUT using a screen reader)

First, you need to ensure your cursor is somewhere in/on the
slide.

Alt + i (brings up the Insert menu)

Press the letter x to insert a text box.

Activate a left mouse click (This is likely to be the
numeric forward slash with a screen reader.

You should now have a small text box somewhere on the screen
with the cursor inside it ready for you to type text. I
suggest you type at least a word in there to trigger the
function.

With your cursor still in the text box, activate a RIGHT
mouse click (possibly the plus key with a screen reader),
and press the letter o, which should select the “Format Text
Box” dialog.

There are six tabs, of which “Size” and “Position” are two.

Hope this at least gets you started.

George.

Hi James,

I will have to look at an Office 2003 System tomorrow, but
in PowerPoint 2007, you need to select the text box, then
find the “Size” ribbon. Click on that, and a dialog with
three tabs comes up – Size, Position and Alt Text. Once you
are on the “Size” tab, it’s quite intuitive.

I’ve got to say that PowerPoint’s Help was not at all
helpful.

George.

Sorry my question was poorly phrased. Is there anyway that
you can insert a text or picture box in a predefined place
on a slide without using the mouse?

Thanks,

James
