thanks for this norman.  on my machine the problem was immediately 
noticeable so it will be interesting to see if anyone else has the problem.

Hi Graham,

I do not seem to have the problem you are having. The Word document reads at
normal speed using Daniel. I tried it for about 20 seconds.
