Hi Marcia, The college I attend has Groupwise as its e-mail package and I am trying to complete the CLAIT Plus set of certificates. The JAWS keystroke help does not cover the area of work I am doing. For example: I have to print two pieces of information together on the same page that are on different screens (you have to tab at least 17 times to move from one piece of information to the next). Even sighted students have difficulty in doing this with the mouse. I still have to use the calender function so I am anticipating more problems. The module was clearly written for Outlook and the problems have arisen because the college IT help desk have refused to put Outlook on the system, they prefer to use Groupwise as their e-mail system. However, pressure to change to Outlook from some tutors may soon pay dividends. If not, I will seriously consider make a claim for discrimination against the college. -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Marcia Holder Sent: 09 March 2007 19:52 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: Outlook versus Groupwise Hello Jim What are you trying to access in Group Wise? Part of the problem seems to be the number of different versions being used at the college. Some machines have got Groupwise 6.5 and others have ver 7.0 on them. They are still on JAWS 7.1 Anyway thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated. You haven't mentioned which version of Jaws you are using but I think that this entry has been in the Jaws help for a number of older versions as well as the latest. You can find the information as follows: JawsKey+j (JawsKey is insert on a standard keyboard); Press the letter j to open the Jaws help topics; Press the letter p to navigate to "popular applications with Jaws" and cursor right to open the sub-menu; Repeatedly press the letter g until you arrive at "GroupWise"; Now, press enter then f6 to place the Jaws focus on the information panel; Here you will find three links, namely: JAWS Commands for GroupWise, GroupWise Getting Started and GroupWise Helpful Hints. Following these links will give you some idea of the setup required for GroupWise with Jaws as well as Keystrokes etc. HTH, Phil Medway philmedway@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Tel: 01869 347639 mobile: 07980 519990 Skype: philmedway ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Williams" <jwbr33694@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 08, 2007 9:48 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Outlook versus Groupwise Hi All, Does anyone in the UK use Groupwise e-mail with JAWS? I'm trying to complete a CLAIT Plus course in College and the IT Helpdesk in the college refuse to allow me to use Microsoft Outlook to do that module, they insist all students use Groupwise which has had me and the tutor nearly pulling our hair out in frustration at the lack of continuity in Groupwise. I'm almost at the point of considering complaining to the DRC over this matter. Any advice welcome.
