Hi Erica,

If this only occurs in Word, you can just do the following when in Word
otherwise press control+shift+d to invoke the default manager after step 1.

1. Press JawsKey+6 on the top row to open the configuration manager.

2. Press alt+s for the settings menu then c for the cursor settings.

3. You should now be on a check box where Jaws says something like
"Notify when cursor changes shape".

4. Uncheck this box by pressing the space bar.

5. Tab to ok and press enter.

6. Press alt+f4 to exit the manager and answer y to accept the changes.

The setting we have changed causes Jaws to speak the type of cursor when it
changes. I-beam is just one cursor type.

  Subject: [jaws-uk] Microsoft Word query

  Hi All,

I am currently using JAWS 7.10 with Windows XP Pro and microsoft office
2002.

Upon fiddling with my JAWS settings in configuration manager ages ago I
changed something but can't remember what I changed. JAWS is now telling me
"unknown" and "I-beam".

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I am at my wits' end and find
it comes up so often I can't concentrate on my work.

I am unfortunately using a network so if I delete my JAWS configuration
files they just come back when next I log on.

Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated.

  Cheers,
