Hi Amro, Make sure you are in the application you want to put to sleep…that's the term used. Bring up Configuration Manager, Alt S for Set Options and A for Advanced. The first item in this field I think is to do with putting Jaws to sleep, so check this item and Save changes in the usual way. You should find that Jaws will not speak. After you have made the changes come out and then go back into the application to effect the change. With some programs, such as media players, I'd like to silence Jaws so it doesn't interfere with what I'm listening to if I'm forwarding or rewinding. I can do it from the verbosity dialog or from the synthesiser selection dialog box (insert control s), but can't figure how to make (no speech) the default option when I'm using a certain program. I looked in the Jaws Configuration Manager and consulted the help files but no luck so far. Any volunteers please? AmroB
