Hi Will,

Interesting stuff. Thanks for that, I'll go look at this and watch the space as
it were.

Hi Robin;

I've had a look at Microsoft Anti-Spyware. There's a couple of problems: 1.
There's a bunch of custom controls used, so JAWS doesn't know how to behave
with these controls and defaults to MSAA. However, there's no MSAA implemented
for these controls, and hence JAWS speaks nothing. 2. There's no keyboard
accelerater keys used, including for the menus. This means you have to use the
JAWS cursor to navigate to a control and issue a simulated mouse click in order
to interact with that control.

There are some standard controls used, such as radio buttons and check boxes
that JAWS works perfectly fine with. As the GDI TextOut() function appears to
have been used, it should be possible for FS to tweek JAWS to get it to work.

I've passed comments on to a couple of people in the Access Tech. Group at
Redmond, and also posted comments to
microsoft.private.security.spyware.general, which is one of the news groups
that have been set up to handle public feedback. You can find details of news
group sign up on the same page as the download was obtained from, if you wish
to give feedback yourself. As this is just a beta and not release product,
there's an opportunity to fix bugs before the product ships, and hopefully this
will happen.

Will

Hi all,

JFW6 and XP Pro.

I've downloaded and installed this new prog, and gone through the 3 step setup
but just cannot get the thing to kick into action to do a full scan.

I had to use the jaws cursor to go through the setup assistant, but the final
step just gives me a checked box to scan every night at 2am, and no buttton or
whatever to continue. It's sitting in my system tray there active, but when I I
right clik and hit the scan now option, it takes me back to that final step in
the assistant.

Anyone sussed this out? I've validated my windows too by the way.

Kind regards,

Robin Clayden, Switchboard.
