Dear Ken

We now have the lovely Lotus notes installed now at work, and I would really
appreciate talking to you or emailing you directly outside of this list. I
have tried but could not find your email address in the email, so not sure if
the Jaws user list shows individual email addresses of senders?

I would also please welcome any opportunity via this list to email or talk over
the phone with others using Lotus Notes.

Many thanks

I have been using Jaws with Lotus Notes for about 7 years, through various
versions of Jaws and Notes. I am currently on Jaws 7.0, and Notes 5. Tomorrow
I am getting upgraded to Jaws 8 and Notes 7, so wish me well.

On the whole, the e-mail aspect of Notes works reasonably well, but you do
need to be on your toes all the time, as not everything on the screen is
spoken. The most significant loss is the field names at the start of the
message. You need to just line down after completing the "to" line, to get to
"cc", "bcc", "subject", and finally the message body.

Attachments may be an issue too, as Jaws will not always be able to focus on
the attachment so you can launch it. Control End may put you on the
attachment, but getting to the second and subsequent attachment is, I think,
impossible. I detach everything to a temporary folder, work with them their,
then save as appropriate from there.

Most databases also work OK. It depends a lot on what has been written in by
the developer.

I tend to find that with both mail and databases, I need to switch between
the Jaws and PC cursors a lot.

If you have any specific questions, come back either through the list or to
me directly, and I will do my best to help. I wish you luck, and would ask the
same for myself for tomorrow.

  All the best,

  Ken
