Some sound editing software may have a facilities you need such as
Goldwave or Soundforge both of which will work with JAWS. You could
then normalise individual tracks either peak level or RMS levels to s
specific level below 0 dB. There are usually also volume level type
processes which you could use if there are just a couple of tracks that
seem way out.

Automatic processes only work so well anyway. This pertains to the
skilled area of production mastering that is likely to fall by the
wayside as we buy individual MP3s or whatever since their are many
factors that determine the percieved volume of recorded music and these
can varying not only from recording to recording but affected by type of
music and relative levels of audio compression.

How do

Happy Easter!

Wondering if any of you girls or boys can help me with something. Is
there any way to quickly level out a folder of sound/music files?

The sort of thing I mean is, when you make a list of music files to burn
onto a CD, you can make sure all the files are at the same volume so
when they're played back, there's no massive alteration or jump in the
sound levels. Can I do this without having to go through the burn
process? Could I make a folder, choose everything it it, and then, as
if by magic, use some sort of programme to make them all equal?

I really hope this all makes sense...

Thanks

Johny
