Hi Phil, and George in an earlier post,
I am not used to laptop key layouts, and I have learned that they vary
considerably. You have helped me to sort this little problem out and when I
speak to my client in the next day or so, I will have a course of action to
get her up and running.

Hi Paul,
If you are in English UK keyboard mode, the control/alt key+J will bring up
the Jaws menu when Jaws is in laptop mode. Similarly, insert+j will do the
same.
I can't find a laptop keystroke for hot key help so you may have to find the
insert key in order to use insert+h.
If you need to find the insert key, try bringing up keyboard mode by
pressing caps lock+1 on the top row then trying something like a modifier
key+t until you hear insert+t followed by the description of what the key
combination does.
Of course, you turn off the keyboard help by caps lock+1 again.
For what its worth, my insert key on the laptop is to the left of the right
control key.

I understand the the insert key toggles between insert and overwrite mode
when in a wordprocessor environment. If you press this key and the letter h
what do you get. I am trying to duplicate the jaws key plus the letter H or
J that I can invoke with the full keyboard on a laptop.

HI Paul, two things.
The key to the right of my space bar is and alt key which if held down
doubles as an accent key. Incidentally jaws would not tell me this, it
stayed silent when I pressed the key so I had to ask my sighted partner. My
insert key is on the top row second from the right edge of the keyboard my
computer is a Toshiba hope this helps.
