Andrew,
What else is there to move towards? I wasn't aware of any alternatives to
Jaws?

I'm afraid that you will need the professional version of JFW whichever
version you would use. So for example, there is a pro version of 4.02
(known as 4.2 - it is the same), or 4.5, 5, 6 or 7. I am not sure
whether you can upgrade the license you have which is a 4.2 license from
standard to pro, without going all the way up to 7, and then paying the
difference for the versions you missed - yes I know, a really bum
upgrade procedure!

Then, when you get to version 6/7, you get the very user friendly (not)
Internet activation system, which I have now had to reset no fewer than
three times by FS staff, because of making the smallest change to the
hardware config (like adding an extra gig of ram, etc).

I am slowly now moving away from JFW because of these issues.

Thanks.
Andrew.

Thanks Phil and Barry,

Lots of really useful info there! Can you clarify the difference between
v4.2 and 4.02? Which is the earliest version of JFW that would work with
XP
Pro? I admit to being a bit shocked at the price of JFW7.0, and
astounded at
the price of the Professional version! I don't know of any other
software
package that is so costly. I have my copy of XP Pro now so am committed
to
going that way rather than with XP Home, but a dual boot might be a
possibility, though it rather defeats the purpose of doing a clean
install
on a new hardd rive.

Thanks again for your comments,

Nick
