If you export, just make sure you are at the very top of the list of
folders, etc., when you reach that part, then EVERYTHING will be
exported.

Hi Mandy,

Yes, you can do it this way but I believe you may have to export each
folder at a time although it might be possible to highlight all your
folders and do them in a bulk export. But as Jane said, check the
location you have exported to before deleting the masters.

could you not just export from outlook ?.. save to the desktop when it
asks for a location for the file to be saved. and when you have
reinstalled outlook, import the file back into the new install?

as far as i recall the import/export facility is quite obvious within
the drop down menus at the top of the window (probably "file").. i
always export to a .csv file.

to check the export has been successful you can read it within excel
before u reinstall outlook..you can export contacts as well as
messages.

hope this helps

Jane

Yes I could back up the work on a pen drive or something but it's all
my
e-mails and folders that I don't want to lose either, I have some old
archived messages from this list and others that I don't want to lose
as it
is really helpful information. So don't know whether to take it to a
computer shop or risk doing it with my husband!

Hi Mandy, can't help on the Outlook question as I use Outlook Express.
You'd

need to back up anything in Outlook you need to keep, and there are
programmes that claim to do that, but I couldn't say how efficiently
they do

it. Would it be possible for you to manually back up the things you're

working on, saving it onto your computer till you've got Outlook
sorted or
reinstalled Office? At least that would give you some peace of mind.
                    John.
